EXMAN Monthly Digest – Welcome to December!
Distinguished Colleagues,
Welcome to the month of December and to the closing month of 2023.
It gives me great pleasure to address you on some activities as we inch closer to the final lap of this year.
SECRETARIAT
Student Engagement
Letters had been sent to various tertiary institutions, with a view of partnering with these institutions and to ensuring that students are adequately informed about the experiential marketing space. The University of Lagos has shown interest in partnering with EXMAN on this, with the creative arts department showing keen interest to engage us in the new year. We always look forward to avenues to engage our youth, to mentor and grow these young minds towards a better tomorrow.
MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS
The Nigerian Marketing Awards 2023, held on the 10th of November these awards seek to recognize, reward, and celebrate outstanding brands and organizations, the very best in the Nigerian marketing industry. Our Vice President Mrs. Angela Makinwa was a distinguished member of the Awards Decision Committee. The awards brought the sectoral body- EXMAN, to the spotlight, as one of our own emerged as a winner-The Experiential Marketing Agency of the Year- Brandlife
Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival 2023 held on the 18th of November is organized to celebrate the creativity that our industry has birth this season, celebrating all forms of creativity within and outside our eco-system.
ADVAN African Awards 2023 held on the 26th of November, the heart of this award is to reward marketing professionals who have made outstanding contributions to the profession.
ARCON Fellowship Conferment Ceremony held on the 24th of November, this is a confirmation of the Fellowship of the Advertising Profession on advertising practitioners who are successful in the 2023 Fellowship selection exercise.
Having fulfilled all requirements Our own Mr. Tunji Adeyinka was conferred with a fellowship by ARCON.

ADVAN SUES ARCON
The Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN), the umbrella body of corporate advertisers in the country, filed a suit against the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) over the ongoing advertising industry reforms. ADVAN claims that the reforms initiated by ARCON are unconstitutional and infringe on the legal rights of advertisers and their members. The association also alleges that the reforms are aimed at exploiting and impoverishing the Nigerian advertising industry.
ARCON’s DG Dr Lekan Fadolapo had however responded to these allegations on the 8th of November by stating that very government regulatory agency created by law has its primary and secondary remit. The primary remit of the ARCON Law is to regulate advertising, advertisement and marketing communications in all ramifications. The primary remit of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act is financial regulation, for National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) Act, it is insurance regulation, for the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Act, it’s food and drugs, for National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Act, it’s the broadcast media. Notwithstanding this, all regulatory agencies also have overlapping functions on business and industry that impinge on their regulatory jurisdiction.
X on The Beach
This year’s event held on the 24th of November and was arguably the most exciting. In attendance over 300 people cutting across the affiliate agencies, this year’s edition was ramped up with lots of games and fun for everyone. The turnout and participation proved to be our best instalment yet and a testament to fostering unity and camaraderie within our association.
OTHER BUSINESSES
In closing, as we settle into the final weeks of this year, let us not lose sight of all we have been able to accomplish and collectively enjoy in this year.
